A year in the life of a Production Manager's log

• Jan - task: Took over A-line night shift permanently after Marcus moved to maintenance. First week learned that moisture traps in the hopper were causing 15% scrap on polycarbonate runs; neither previous shift leads had flagged it.
• Feb - achievement: Installed desiccant cartridge breather system on A-line hopper. Scrap rate dropped from 15% to 2.8% on PC jobs within ten days. Saved approximately 340 kg waste per week.
• Feb - feedback: Plant director told me in the production meeting: 'That hopper fix was the kind of thing we should have caught. You're watching the lines.' Made me feel seen.
• Apr - task: Supply chain held up five resin deliveries in a row. Reworked May schedule three times to fit what we actually had on hand. Held output at 92K units instead of planned 98K but no line shutdowns.
