Example Achievement Log for a Recruiter

This Recruiter tracked hiring wins, sourcing experiments, and relationship-building across their year. You'll notice months with nothing logged: recruiting moves in cycles, and some periods were pure pipeline work with no closes to record.

A year in the life of a Recruiter's log

  • Jan - achievement: Closed two mid-market Sales Engineer roles for Vertex by Jan 15. Both candidates were passive sourced via Entelo; filled positions were open since November. Saved client two months of lag time.
  • Feb - task: Started using Greenhouse API to auto-tag candidates by skills instead of manual screening. Found I was wasting 6 hours a week sorting Java vs Python applicants. First week rough, but pipeline speed up 30% by end of month.
  • Feb - feedback: Hiring manager at Zenith told me in debrief: you're the first Recruiter who actually read the job req. Usually I get CV spam. Set baseline for how I vet candidates going forward.
  • Apr - achievement: Filled Principal Product Manager role at Cascade in 19 days. Candidate was counteroffered twice; negotiated equity package that held them. Internal hire rate was under 40% for that desk.
  • May - task: Built outreach sequence for data engineers in mid-market using LinkedIn Sales Nav. Tested on 80 profiles; 12% reply rate was below my 18% target. Retooled subject line and tried again in June.
  • May - achievement: Placed three engineers on extended contract at Empirical Systems for Q3. All were passive, sourced from my network built during Feb API project. Contract value 94K over three months.
  • Jul - feedback: Partner manager Sarah said in Slack: your candidates actually show up to interviews prepared. That's not normal. Made me realize candidate coaching is a differentiator I wasn't tracking.
  • Aug - task: Tried recruiting on Reddit r/ExperiencedDevs for six weeks. Posted job ads and ran AMAs. Zero qualified candidates. Killed the experiment and reallocated hours to Entelo sourcing.
  • Oct - achievement: Closed five roles for Quantus across Finance and Operations. Average time to placement was 22 days. Client renewed contract at 120% of prior year spend due to placement velocity.
  • Nov - achievement: Hit annual placement target in October. Placed 24 candidates across 18 clients. 88% of them were still in role as of month-end review, up from 83% last year.
  • Dec - task: Onboarded two junior Recruiters on team. Documented my sourcing playbook into a Notion database so they could replicate the Entelo + API workflow. Took ten hours but should save them weeks.

What makes a strong entry

What most people write: Placed engineers at a client in June for contract work.

What went in the log: Placed three engineers on extended contract at Empirical Systems for Q3. All were passive, sourced from my network built during Feb API project. Contract value 94K over three months.

The strong version names the client, specifies the count, explains where they came from (traceable to an earlier experiment), and gives the financial outcome. Without this, the Recruiter cannot explain six months later what made June different or why the API pivot mattered.

What most people write: Tested a new outreach approach that didn't work out.

What went in the log: Tried recruiting on Reddit r/ExperiencedDevs for six weeks. Posted job ads and ran AMAs. Zero qualified candidates. Killed the experiment and reallocated hours to Entelo sourcing.

The strong version names the platform, the failure metric (zero qualified), and the corrective action taken. A reviewer can see the Recruiter knows when to stop and why, not just that something failed.

How this becomes your review in November

I placed 24 candidates across 18 clients this year, with 88% retention in role by year-end, and closed my placement target by October. I systematized my sourcing workflow in February by integrating the Greenhouse API, which lifted pipeline speed 30% and let me scale passive sourcing: that investment paid off when I built a network of mid-market engineers to fill the three-person contract at Empirical Systems in June, which generated 94K in revenue on high-velocity placements. I also tested new channels (Reddit recruiting in August) and killed what didn't work, reallocating hours back to proven methods; renamed client Zenith told me I was the first Recruiter who actually read the job requirements carefully, and that became a baseline for all candidate evaluation going forward.
